Writing Prompt for the Week (Halloween Themes)

Hey guys, it’s Day 1, so you know what that means. Writing Prompt for the Week! Since it’s the month of October, I thought it would be fun to do a Halloween themed prompt. I love Halloween. Don’t you?

The pumpkins, the pretty fall colors, pumpkin spice lattes, the sound of crackling leaves, the smell of pumpkins, candy, spooky movies, pumpkins, spooky books, Trick-or-Treaters, dressing in costumes, Halloween parties (okay, I don’t get to go to many but this year I have one to go to. PUMPED!), spooky decorations, carving pumpkins, pumpkins (did I already say pumpkins?)…anyway, you get the idea! I love Halloween. It’s probably my second most favorite holiday.

For now, the writing prompts are just going to be for fun, to get your creative juices flowing, and I believe prompts can be very helpful for your writing in general. But if I see a lot of interest, I may decide to include some prizes in the future. So please participate!

The prompt:

Write a short story or poem about Halloween.

RULES: You may write about anything so long as the theme is Halloween-based (ghosts, witches, monsters, serial killers, etc), but your prompt must include the following words: pumpkins, Fall (as in the season), a description including the crackling of leaves (word it as you’d like), ghosts, your favorite candy, Jack-o-lantern.

Writing Prompts are due on October 31, 2012 (Yep, Halloween!)

When you are finished, please post a link to your entry below (or if you do not have a blog/website you can post to, you may post it as a comment). I will post mine in a new blog entry. I’m looking forward to seeing your entry!
