Writing Tip: Writing Exercise #3: Tenses

Writing Exercise #3: Write the given sentences using the opposite tense (present or past). If a sentence is written in past tense, re-write it in present. Same for if a sentence is written in present tense.

1. Sandy was glad that the school day was almost over.

2. I lean against the lamp pole, my heart pounding as I try to calm down.

3. Andrew sighs as he takes one last look at his ex’s picture, wishing he’d never let her go.

4. Taking a deep breath, Jake wiped his sweaty hands on his pants and began running toward the ball.

5. Emily shrieked as she discovered a mouse in her desk drawer.
