NaNoWriMo 2017: Week 4 & Conclusion

That’s right, guys…I finished! While I did have some trouble during week 4, I also found a burst of motivation and strived to finish. I am pretty happy with myself for managing that. There are several days that I didn’t/couldn’t write so the fact that I managed to complete my goal is truly astounding.

I was worried about how I was going to connect my current story to the ending chapters, which I had already written. However, when it came time to do so, it ended up being easier than I thought. So Much Rage has definitely been my most difficult NaNo novel that I can remember writing. It will need a ton of edits but I’m glad I got it finished.

While it was interesting working with part of an online, I do wish that I had planned the story out more when it was still fresh in my mind. So Much Rage is a story idea that I’ve had for several months so while I knew the basics, there was a lot of holes throughout the story that I had to figure out how to fill.

Here are my final stats:

Goal: 50,000 Words.
Total Words Written: 50,019.

I did feel like this year that the NaNoWriMo validated word count and my Scrivener word count were very off but I wrote until the story was finished and until I had gone past 50K through the NaNoWriMo validation.

So, YAY! Did you participate in NaNoWriMo this year? If so, how did you do? Remember–No matter how much you wrote, even one word is more than you would have had otherwise.

October Writing & Reading Goals Check (November Goals)

Last month I decided to do a post with a list of goals I wanted to accomplish in the coming month. Let’s see how I did.

✓ Read at least 6 books
✓ Read Dracula for my classic book
✓ Work on The Birthday Bash edit/re-write
✓ Read Fantastic Beasts screenplay
✓ Read Vicious (PLL)
✓ Read Hotel Ruby
✓ Read I Hunt Killers
✓ Read Rage Within or Rooms

October ended up being pretty hectic so I’m proud of the goals I managed to get accomplished. I am disappointed that I didn’t get a Harry Potter read in but I guess I’ll just have to do two next month or for December!

Here’s my goals for next month:

✓ Read at least 6 books
✓ Read The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for my classic book
✓ Write So Much Rage for NaNoWriMo
✓ Read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay
✓ Read Sister’s Fate
✓ Read Rage Within

✓ Read Knee-High Lies for review
✓ Read Game
Do Book Pics

Wish me luck! Did you have any goals for October? If so, how did they go?

NaNoWriMo 2017

Happy NaNoWriMo! I really wanted to do this post sooner but it’s been crazy around here. I am super excited for my story idea this year and cannot wait to see how it turns out.

Title: So Much Rage

Genre: YA Horror/Thriller

Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old London Harris struggles to deal with the aftermath of her siblings murders and how their mother was responsible.

This idea is loosely based on the Darla Routier case, which I first heard about on Forensic Files.

As usual, I will be posting weekly updates of my progress.

Are you participating in NaNoWriMo?? If so, what is your story about? Best of luck!

NaNoWriMo 2016 Results

Hey guys, I hope that your writing has been going well if you did NaNoWriMo. The last few days have been a little crazy so apologies for the lack of updates. I hope that even if you did not complete 50K that you managed to get something written. It’s more than you would have had otherwise.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it or not this year. I’ve never not finished, minus that time I decided to do two Camp NaNoWriMo sessions (which was a disaster for the second session!). But somehow I managed to finish even though I had several sick, holiday, busy, or uninspired days. Honestly I probably wrote 50K in 20 or less days.

I finished Not My Fault at 50,265 words. It’s definitely going to need a lot of work but I feel that the overall story and characters came out well. It also helped me heal somewhat emotionally. Part of this story was autobiographical, though the main character acts in the way I wish I would have at her age.

While this was not my most enjoyable NaNo, I feel like it was still a strong one. There was just a lot going on and while stress can sometimes be motivating, it can also go in the other direction.

^Here’s the winner badge. Isn’t that paper flag adorable? I have to admit that I wasn’t so crazy about the “space” theme until I saw this flag and got this message after finishing: You’ve defied gravity this month! Truth.

How did you do with NaNoWriMo? I hope you at least got some of your story written. 2016 has not been a great writing year for me so it was nice to finally get something accomplished. Let me know if you finished or how much you got accomplished.

NaNoWriMo Week 3 & 4

Hey guys, hope your writing has been going well if you’re doing NaNoWriMo! Apologies for the lack of posts. Life has been very busy with the holidays beginning to make their appearance. I’m also still behind on my word count but I am hoping to catch up within the next three days. It’s a lot to do but if I work at it, I think I can do it!

I’ve recently become addicted to the Hamilton album like many other people, especially in the Booktube/reader/author community seem to be. I thought this was a funny line considering NaNoWriMo is about to end: Why do you write like you’re running out of time? Write day and night like you’re running out of time?

Here are my stats so far:

38,003 words written

11,997 words to go

3 days left

So how are you doing with NaNoWriMo? If you are like me and still struggling to catch up, may you be like Alexander Hamilton in regards to writing! 😉

NaNoWriMo Week 2

Hey guys, hope your writing has been going well if you’re doing NaNoWriMo! I’m still behind but I have made more progress since last time so that’s something. I’m hoping to knock out even more this weekend. Here are my stats so far:

19,466 words written

30,534 words to go

13 days left

So how are you doing with NaNoWriMo? Happy writing!

NaNoWriMo Week 1

Hey guys, hope your writing has been going well if you’re doing NaNoWriMo! I’m pretty behind because of several reasons (illness, vacation, anxiety over the election, work) but I am hoping to catch up this weekend. Here are my stats so far:

8,140 words written

41,860 words to go

21 days left

The book I’m writing is a very personal topic so it’s been difficult to write about. It does get easier as I go along, though.

So how are you doing with NaNoWriMo? Happy writing!
